I graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Magazine Media Journalism in 2019. During my time at Ball State, I was the managing editor of Ball Bearings Magazine, the university's award-winning, student-run magazine. I was awarded the Pamela Forbes Memorial Scholarship from the Journalism department for my contribution as a female member of a campus student publication. In 2017, I studied travel writing while studying abroad in Italy for five weeks. As a senior, I was the president of Ball State's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. During this time, I wrote a grant to the national Society of Professional Journalists for my media literacy initiative. I was awarded this grant and the funding allowed Ball State journalism students to visit local K-12 schools in Muncie to teach students about media literacy and share our experiences as journalists. During my senior year, the  Ball State Journalism department turned 50. As an ambassador for the Journalism school, I planned events to celebrate this milestone.

As a Eugene S. Pulliam Intern (Hoosier State Press Association), I received mentorship from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Tom French. I was then selected by the Indianapolis Press Club to be a fellow at WFYI Public Media, where I had a story I reported and voiced air on a National Public Radio broadcast. From 2019-2021, I was a K-12 education reporter at The Herald-Times in Bloomington, Indiana. Within my first year in this role, I received a first place in education reporting award from the Indiana Professional chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
